JEC Group have brought together the international community of composites leaders and executives in our Composites Circle as an unique networking opportunity to meet with both peers and future partners.
JEC Europe 2015 - Penso has developed composite technology that produces lightweight parts in minutes, not hours.
Penso, which employs over 220 people at two state-of-the-art facilities in the West Midlands, has used its expertise in cutting edge composite technology and analysis to come up with tooling and processes that could be used across aerospace, automotive and rail. This knowledge has been further boosted by a £1.2m investment in presses and a dedicating finishing cell that can cater for low/medium volume production.Michael Collins, Group Marketing & Sales Director, commented. “Everything we do is driven by innovation and we have been able to design tools so that they can be used in existing presses without modification.“Accurate real-time control of the tool temperature and seal geometry is critical to the part performance and we have established these parameters on a number of different tool sizes and geometries.”He continued: “An additional benefit is the double A-surface on the parts, which permit accurate assembly of structures without additional rework.”Penso is working closely with automotive OEMs to investigate replacement of metallic body-in-white-structures with optimised composite structures, achieving significant mass savings of up to 30%.Work is also proceeding with the development of lightweight closures with exposed A-Surface finish to permit the deletion of trim panels.More information: www.penso.co.ukBooth: B25
