The company announces that it has completed the purchase of an additional 4500 sq ft of manufacturing space adjacent to the Pipex px Headquarters at the Devon Enterprise Facility in Roborough, Plymouth, UK.
Also included in this purchase is the freeholds for all the existing onsite Pipex px factories, yards, roadways and frontage areas which connect the Pipex units.Significant remodelling and builders work will now commence to remove connecting internal walls, combining two existing units to create a 13,500 sq ft advanced manufacturing facility, that is standalone and additional to our other factory areas - The Pipex px Resin Infusion Centre of Excellence, or R.I.C.E. building, which will house all our our advanced FRP composites and associated advanced manufacturing capabilities.Due for completion by the close of Summer 2015, this dedicated Resin Infusion facility will house a bespoke jumbo-sized (amongst the largest in the UK) 30M long 5 Axis CNC machine, designed and built in-house by Pipex px Specialist Fabrication Director Adrian Kennett, accompanied with overhead craneage, drying ovens, resin transfer machines and a modular clean room.This investment in state of the art facilities to machine and manufacturing large composite solutions for the rail, subsea and oil & gas markets fully complements Pipex px ability to offer advanced design and specialist installation services, further cementing our reputation as the UK’s leading advanced FRP composites design, fabrication and installation expertise.R.I.C.E. will enable the company to provide a larger range of structural solutions for their clients completely in-house, together with the ability to adapt to changes in manufacturing requirements with improved efficiency and speed.The purchase was partially funded by a £100K grant from the GAIN growth fund and will be instrumental in creating a number of highly skilled new manufacturing jobs in the Plymouth area.More information: www.pipexpx.com
