JEC Europe 2014 - The idea to no longer pull a profile through a mould but to move the mould stepwise over the profile was presented for the first time in 2009.
Especially an application for the manufacture of curved profiles, the award-winning Radius-Pultrusion system intrigued pultrusion experts and gave room for many new ideas. Since then, the concept of the "moving mould" has been further developed. The principle has been proved to be beneficial not only for curved profiles but also for straight profiles with complex reinforcements and thin walls. Thus, a number of development projects for major automotive OEMs, first tier suppliers and the oil industry are actually on their way. To spotlight the first "official" results, a pipe pressure liner and reinforcement profiles for glass roofs developed together with Webasto, a leader in car roof technology, will be presented. The replacement of the conventional metal profile reduces the weight of the glass roof remarkably (the weight saving of the carbon profile compared to conventional profiles is about 65%).More information: www.thomas-technik.com Booth: M47
