Scott Bader is exhibiting at JEC Europe 2015, Paris from 10-12 March. At JEC Europe this year, the Scott Bader stand (Pavilion 7/ stand D32 - floor 7.3) will be showcasing the latest applications using its Advanced Composites materials and Adhesives.

New applications on display will include the Spanish Ariane 3 ‘Moto3 World Championship’ racing motorcycle with its Crystic gel-coated and  vacuum infused carbon fibre Crestapol 1250LV resin composite body panel parts bonded with Crestabond structural  adhesive, and a new  design carbon fibre racing canoe for the Estonian Olympic squad, also Crystic gel-coated and vacuum moulded using the carbon compatible, rapid cure Crestapol 1250LV infusion resin, specified in both applications due to the need for lightweight and exceptional mechanical strength under high velocity impact conditions.

New for 2015, is ‘GelTint’, a new, fully automated, high speed gelcoat volumetric tinting and colour matching service developed by Scott Bader’s R & D Group, which is being officially launched at JEC Europe; a ‘GelTint’ tinting machine is being displayed on the Scott Bader stand. According to Scott Bader, this new gelcoat service is able to rapidly fulfil orders in 20kg batches for a pigmented gelcoat from the full RAL colour range, with the new tinting system also able to colour match to order from a suitable sample provided. The new volumetric tinting system can pigment any gelcoat base resin to a high level of batch to batch consistency; brush and spray grades are offered across the Crystic gelcoat range. Currently, the ‘GelTint’ service is only available to UK customers, but plans are already in place to extend the service more locally across Europe and beyond later in the year, with additional tinting machines being installed by approved Scott Bader independent distributors, who will be trained to provide the service to OEMs and FRP convertors based in their region.

In two open forum sessions during JEC Europe, representatives from Scott Bader will be giving two technical papers. The first presentation is at 10.00am on Tuesday 11 March, being given by Heather Puddephatt (Senior Applications Chemist), who will speak about: 'Scott Bader innovations in high performance bonding pastes and structural adhesives'. The second paper about the performance, properties and processing of Crestapol 1250LV high performance acrylic resin, is being given by Neil Gray, Global Business Manager - Crestapol Resins.

During the show, visitors to the Scott Bader stand will be able to find out about the complete range of Advanced Composites materials available including: Crestomer urethane acrylate and primer-less methacrylate Crestabond structural adhesives; speciality fire, smoke and toxic fumes (FST) Crestapol resins and Fireguard gelcoat systems which meet the new European rail vehicle FST standard EN 45545 - level HL2l; plus matched tooling system products for fabricating different types of composites moulds including rapid tooling and direct moulds (LPM – Limited Production Moulds), as well as speciality products for making and finishing patterns and plugs.
