At this year’s JEC Composites Show, SGL Group – The Carbon Company – presented innovative carbon fiber materials and composites for various industries.

From March 27 – 29, 2012, SGL Group displayed materials and applications covering the entire value chain – from the raw material (precursor) to carbon fibers, textile products, prepregs and preforms to finished components comprised of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP). Through its exhibits, SGL Group demonstrated the versatility of carbon materials and highlighted its possible uses.

In addition to the strategic growth markets including the automotive, aerospace and wind energy industries, innovative carbon materials are pushing into additional new markets such industrial gas and construction. At this year’s JEC, SGL Group presented for the first time a new generation of gas cylinders from the Linde Group. The first ergonomically designed gas cylinder wrapped in carbon fibers is considerably lighter and more stable than conventional steel gas cylinders. SGL Group also showcased cladding panels made of carbon fibers that will be used in the construction industry. This further demonstrates the potential of carbon fibers for use in the maintenance and strengthening of bridges, tunnels and buildings as well as in new construction.

Based on the excellent feedback received, SGL Group will return to the JEC Composites Show in 2013.
