Sigma expands with RMDG acquisition

Sigma Components, the Aerospace Division of Avingtrans plc has acquired RMDG Aerospace Limited in a deal with Tricorn Group plc valued at £1.1 million.

Based in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, RMDG manufactures a range of rigid pipe assemblies and precision aerospace components for tier-one aerospace OEMs. RMDG employs 29 people in the UK.

Mark Johnson, Managing Director of Avingtrans' Aerospace Division commented: "RMDG has a great reputation with its customers and relationships with a number of major manufacturers, providing good synergy with other Sigma sites. I'm sure that the capabilities and expertise of the RMDG team will be a fantastic asset as we strengthen our relationships with key customers, add new sales channels and pursue our strategy for growth and innovation."

Steve McQuillan, chief executive of Avingtrans commented: "The purchase of RMDG further strengthens our position in the aerospace market, reinforcing us as a leading supplier to a number of major manufacturers. We intend to integrate RMDG into Sigma and to improve its financial performance by reducing our overall business costs as sales grow and by leveraging the greater buying power of the aerospace division. RMDG will slot seamlessly into the division alongside the other recent acquisitions in Derby and Farnborough.
