JEC Europe 2012 - The most common types of filament wound parts (Pipes, Tanks & Vessels) use a parametric model which allows for quick changes in the size of parts.
It is very common to have a range of part sizes with the same laminate sequence. Composicad recalculates all of the part layers using the new size. This can save an enormous amount of programming time. Also supports Figures of Revolutions, Spars and Curves.
This software uses a laminate table to describe the complete part. The table shows each layer and pertinent parameters – thickness, weight, winding time and cost, to easily estimate part costs. The individual layers can be helical, circumferential or a connector/transition path.
Composicad automatically calculates the next mandrel surface after each layer. This is very important because the diameter and shape of the part is changing as each layer is applied. It also calculates an efficient delivery envelope that helps to minimize winding time.
Composicad uses a material database, so the common winding setups can be saved and used again. Composicad uses English or SI units and supports multiple languages.
Composicad can generate output for up to 8 different machine configurations. The machines can be any CNC controlled winding machine and supports up to six axis of motion – spindle, carriage, radial carriage, rotating eye, yaw and perpendicular carriage.
