JEC Group have brought together the international community of composites leaders and executives in our Composites Circle as an unique networking opportunity to meet with both peers and future partners.
It is the second successive year that the Toray-Pinarello partnership has helped Team Sky to victory following Bradley Wiggins’ achievements in 2012.
Froome and Team Sky used Pinarello’s Dogma 65.1 Think 2 and the ‘BOLIDE’ Time Trial Bike. The Dogma 65.1 Think 2 is the successor to the Dogma 2, a frame that used Toray’s 60tons modulus Torayca material. The ‘BOLIDE’ Time Trial Bike was developed by Pinarello in close collaboration with Team Sky for over a year, with one of the aims to improve the stiffness of the frame to allow the rider to utilise all of the power generated. In order to achieve further improvements on frame, Toray worked with Pinarello’s engineers to develop the Torayca 65tons modulus material, which has led to a more rigid and reactive frame better prepared for the rigors of professional cycling. The Torayca material uses the innovative Nanoalloy technology, a proprietary microstructure control technology developed by Toray that can bring about dramatic improvement in characteristics compared to existing materials by minutely dispersing multiple polymers on a nano-metric scale. When applied with Torayca CFRP this gives a material with higher impact-resistance, fatigue properties and interlaminar toughness (Mode I) compared to conventional CFRPs.More information: www.toray.com
