Vesa Korpimies of Exel Composites is the 2011 Pultruder of the Year

An on-line voting procedure between 8 nominated pultrusion experts from around the world was necessary to reduce the field to 4 finalists. Out of these 4 finalist Mr. Korpimies was elected through a secret ballot by the delegates of the 3rd Global Pultrusion Conference at Marne-la-Vallée France.

On March 28th at the ENPC University for Bridge Technology, Marne-la-Vallée, France Mr. Vesa Korpimies was elected as the 2011 Pultruder of the Year.

This distinguished Pultruder of the Year Award is named after the famous pioneer in Pultrusion Technology, Mr. Brandt Goldsworthy of the USA who in 1949 came up with the idea to pull fibreglass roving through a small die, which initiated the developed of an exiting composite production technology. Pultrusion Technology today is used by over 300 companies worldwide and generates over billion euro turnover by thousands of different applications in all areas of industry and technology.

Mr. Korpimies who is the CEO of Exel Composites OYJ Finland, received the award for bringing his company from a small Finnish pultrusion company in the early nineties, active then only in the sports market, to the number one pultrusion company in the world focusing on industrial applications with a turn over in excess of  Euro 73 million. (USD 104 million)
