Zhongfu Shenying to build 3500 tons high performance carbon fiber project

Recently, Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd (Zhongfu Shenying) has held the ribbon cutting ceremony for its "annual output 3500 tons of high performance carbon fiber" project.

The project has a total investment of 1 billion Yuan (US$161 million). General Manager of Zhongfu Shenying, Liu Fang introduced that the company plans to expand its production scale based on its mature dry-jet wet spinning technology and equipment advantages. The plan includes the construction of 3 new carbon fiber production lines of a total 3500 tons production capacity to be completed and put into production within 3 years.

At present, Zhongfu Shenying has formed the mass and scale production in China for high performance carbon fiber products such as T700. This time, Zhongfu Shenying has started the annual output 3500 tons of high performance carbon fiber project aiming at the T700 and T800 production with the dry-jet wet spinning process technology. The products will be mainly used in the domestic high tech, refined and top level industries. After the project is completed, Zhongfu Shenying will form an annual 15000 tons of precursor and 6000 tons of carbon fiber productivity and become largest carbon fiber production base in China.

With the Zhongfu Shenying scale expansion and the upgrading of its production technology level, it will be inevitable to bring down the overall carbon fiber and carbon fiber composite material prices in China. The carbon fiber composite materials development in China depends to a large extend on the carbon fiber price. With trend of low carbon fiber cost brought by the mass production, the application of high performance carbon fiber in the automotive, aerospace, and all kinds of mechanical equipment will experience a rapid growth. It is estimated that by 2015 the global carbon fiber consumption will reach 70000 tons, an average annual compound growth rate will reach up to 9.37%. By 2020, the global carbon fiber demand can even reach 130000 tons/year.

As early as in the year 2010, Zhongfu Shenying has launched the research and development on the dry-jet wet spinning technology. After more than 3 years of technical innovation, the company has overcome the following key technical problems:

  1. Homogenized large polymerization kettle polymerization thermal conductive system
  2. Stabilized dry-jet wet spinning air layer disturbance control
  3. Homogenized coagulation bath forming
  4. Efficient and stable steam drafting
  5. Energy-saving pre oxidation and carbonization

In the second half of 2012, the company has implemented the dry-jet wet spinning T700 carbon fiber batch production. In September 2013, the company has passed through the scientific and technological achievements appraisal organized by the Chinese Textile Industry Association on its dry-jet wet spinning GQ45 high performance carbon fiber engineering key technology and equipment research and development project. The product performance indicators have reached the level of the similar foreign products. That same year, the T700 high performance carbon fiber has been listed as one of the national strategic product innovations.
