COMPAIR PROJECT

The ComPair project aims to overcome issues regarding the inhomogeneous structure of composite materials used in transport applications and creates a new in-service inspection system, and conditional health monitoring system, suitable for continuous non-destructive assessment of surface transport applications. The project objectives provide 2 approaches: 1) An inspection technique using a lightweight multi-axis robotic scanner to accommodate transient thermal NDT. 2) A monitoring technique for real-time analysis using acoustic emission (AE) and guided waves (GW) based on low frequency ultrasonics. Partly funded by the EC under the FP7 programme, ComPair is a collaboration between the following organisations: TWI Ltd, Kaunas University of Technology, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, National Technical University of Athens, ATOUTVEILLE, Cereteth, G-Tronix Ltd, ENEA, ENVIROCOUSTICS, HEXCEL COMPOSITES, Kingston Computer Consultancy Ltd.
