First Chinese assembled A320 with Sharklets goes to China Eastern

China’s largest operator of Airbus aircraft, China Eastern Airlines, has taken delivery of its first A320 aircraft equipped with Sharklet fuel saving wing-tip devices, becoming China’s first carrier to do so. The aircraft is also the first Sharklets equipped A320 assembled and delivered in Tianjin.

The A320, powered by IAE V2500 engines, features a comfortable two class cabin, seating 158 passengers with eight in business class and 150 in economy. The A320 will make its first commercial flight from Shanghai to Dalian on May 18.

Teledyne CML receives Nadcap composite manufacturing accreditation

Teledyne CML Group (CML), a division of Teledyne Brown Engineering, announces that it has received Nadcap composite manufacturing accreditation AC7118 PAR Rev C.

The accreditation applies to CML’s new composites facility which was officially opened in October 2011 by HRH the Duke of York. The scope of the approval includes prepreg lay up, NC ply cutting, autoclave curing, NC machining, trimming and drilling.

China national aramid fiber center established in Yantai

China national aramid fiber engineering & technology research center has recently settled in Tayho Advanced Materials in Yantai city, Shandong province.

This center is the fourth research institution established by National Engineering Technology Research Center in Yantai city.

Aramid fiber is the key basis material that supports the emerging strategic industries development of defense, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy, and new materials.

3B-the fibreglass company announces the appointment of Marc Hubert to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mr Hubert has taken on his new responsibilities on 1 May 2013 and joined 3B-the fibreglass company, the fibreglass division of the international industrial Braj Binani Group.

Succeeding acting CEO Jean-François Santicoli, Marc Hubert is responsible for leading and profitably growing the business. Mr Santicoli remains member of the Board of Directors of 3B-the fibreglass company.

One year ago, Trützschler Nonwovens & Man-Made Fibers took on board the employees and expertise of Bastian Wickeltechnik. The fully automatic unwinders, winders and short roll winders, as well as rewinding and cutting systems, lives on in the portfolio of the Trützschler Group through the Bastian product brand.

In early 2013, the first Trützschler winder, a specially designed high-performance winder for up to 5 mm strength nonwoven composite films, went into production in Austria. The high degree of automation in this fully automatic short roll winder with an integrated core loader and masking unit allows short cycle times for changing rolls, even in both winding directions. As with nearly all winders in the Bastian product line, the execution of this process requires no preparation at the roll core for setting up materials.
