The new energy and renewable energy deputy director of the National Energy Board, Mr Shi Lishan noted that the State has made it clear that by 2020, the Chinese wind power will reach 200 million kilowatts of development goals.

According to the estimates pushed down by this goal, during the “Thirteenth Five Year” period (2016 to 2020), China’s wind power production needs more than 20 million kilowatts new installed capacity annually. This means that the objectives and tasks of the basic definition of wind power development are very clear and the wind power industry will maintain rapid growth in a long time.

Mr. Shi also said that with the layout of the wind power has been gradually shifted to the east and the southern region, the environmental protection of wind power development and construction has become increasingly important. The state energy administration will introduce a notice 2015 on the strengthening of the requirements related to environmental protection in wind power development and construction, which will further clarify the environmental requirements.

Affected by various factors, the construction of offshore wind power in China is relatively slow. According to the requirements of the national development and construction of offshore wind power program, the National Energy Administration will supervise the coastal provinces to speed up the construction of offshore wind power projects. A timely tracking and monitoring on the offshore wind power construction progress will be established. The project promotion coordination efforts will be strengthened. By the end of 2016, there will be a major breakthrough in this regard.
