Bearnes expects to step into his new role later this spring. He will initially manage the construction project for Laurel BioComposite’s full-scale plant and staff the facility for commercial level production of the company’s patent-pending Bio-Res™.  The green bio-material is a high-performance, cost effective replacement for traditional petroleum-based resins in a variety of manufacturing processes for plastics.

Bearnes brings nearly 25 years of experience in the agricultural business to the position. “Bio-Res technology combines the best of agriculture with practical science and engineering in a rapidly growing advanced materials market.  I will be stepping down from a successful seed and agriculture chemical career to lead a start-up company in what promises to be an exciting growth adventure. To be able to do this in my adopted town of Laurel is especially important because I am committed to seeing this community thrive.”

As Laurel BioComposite’s new business manager, Junck will provide the necessary skills to nurture the ongoing development of Laurel BioComposite. Junck has served as economic development coordinator for Laurel since 1999.  Junck’s network of connections with Nebraska economic organizations also provides the company with key support for process, permit and reporting requirements.

Bearnes and Junck both are long-time residents of Laurel.  Bio-Res pellets are made of 80 percent bio-material and sold in master batches.  Bio-Res is especially suited for use in a range of industries including shipping, lawn and garden, agriculture and automotive applications.
