Twofold increase of Composites in Asia. JEC Asia 2009 demonstrated the tremendous growth of Composites in Asia

ASIAN COMPOSITES MARKET TO DOUBLE
The Asian composites market growth is predicted to double till 2015. Asian countries keep on increasing their market share in global composites production at a faster rate than in the past few years. It is predicted that by 2015, the growth of the Asian market for composites will have doubled to reach 50% of total market volume – an estimated 5.15 metric tons (MT) out of a total 10.3 MT

A DYNAMIC SECOND SESSION FOR JEC ASIA
Created in 2008, JEC ASIA was a roaring success for this second session with high participation in all its programs. Enriched with new conferences & forums, new services such as the Business Meetings or the Honorary Guests Program, Networking Meetings, this international platform was joined by well-established brands and new actors from Middle-East, India and Asia Pacific. On a total of 345 participating companies, JEC ASIA attracted 46 new exhibitors among which leading companies from all over the world such as Australian Composites Pty Ltd (Australia), Balseurop (Spain), Fleissner, Lamilux, Pecolit, Lindauer Dornier (Germany), Kemrock, FRP Accessories (India), Metyx (Turkey), Park Electrochemical, Nelco (USA), Toho Tenax, Itochu (Japan), 01DB Metravib (Areva), Nord Composites, Pôle Plasturgie Est, Sicomin from France and a majority from China/Taiwan: CPIC, Jushi, Hengshi Fiberglass Fabrics, Zhejiang Huangyang Dasheng Mould, Flow, Ta Chiao Chou Yacht Building.

A UNIQUE INTERNATIONAL EVENT IN ASIA
With 55 countries involved in the event, JEC Asia is the only international platform for the Asia-Pacific area. The show welcomed all the major delegations (China & Taiwan, Japan, India, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, etc), Ambassadors, Honorary guests, top VIPs & decision makers, world renowned speakers and emblematic contributors to the composite industry, and journalists from major end-users markets.

SPECIFICITIES OF THE REGIONAL MARKET
The main topics of JEC Asia were representing the Asian markets. Unlike America or Europe, Asia’s main growth drivers are:
- Building and Construction (equipment phase)
- Automotive (increase of local demand)
- Wind energy driven by the combination of favourable public regulations and the possibility to exploit economically viable wind farms,
- Aeronautics with a continuing penetration of composites for lightening issues.

- 345+ participating companies (+15% compared to 2008),
- a third hall added in 2009,
- 7 national pavilions with 2 new in 2009 Malaysia and Australia and the others: China & Taiwan, France, Japan, India,
- 7,002 visitors attended this professionals-only event; from 55 countries, 86% from Asia-Pacific
- 650 delegates took part in the programme of conferences, forums and technical sales presentations,
- 6 forums and conferences, including a new wind energy forum,
- A display of innovative composite parts from several different application sectors,
- The new “Business Meetings” programme was a success with more than 100+ registered for JEC Asia 2009,
- JEC Asia Awards: 10 awards were presented this year with, for the first time, a Life Achievement Award honouring Mr Yong-Jun Cho, President of Hankuk Fiber Glass, for his devotion to the composites industry,
- 40 % of exhibitors have already rebooked a booth for the 3rd session of JEC Asia 2010.
