Bodo Möller Chemie Group will present a comprehensive one-stop shop for everything related to the value-added chain of composite materials at JEC World 2023
The application experts of the full-service supplier will show not only products of leading manufacturers such as Dow, DuPont, Henkel Adhesive Technologies, Huntsman Advanced Materials and Porcher Industries, but also comprehensive solutions. The focus will be on methacrylate-, epoxy resin-, polyurethane- and silicon-based adhesives, fiber reinforcements, mold silicones, casting resins, laminating resins, gelcoats, coupling layers and Ureol® block materials.
In addition, users from the sector can allow complex test series to be performed in the in-house adhesive laboratories to drastically shorten the time-to-market of new products. For applications in the areas of e-mobility and hydrogen infrastructure, Bodo Möller Chemie offers, apart from composite materials, also high-performance impregnation and encapsulating resins for electrical and electronic components.
Hydrogen and e-mobility
In addition to the battery-powered electric drives, it is the restarted development of hydrogen-based mobility solutions what is especially pushing composite development. State-of-the-art high-pressure tanks for hydrogen storage are made mostly from carbon fiber-reinforced plastic materials owing to the very demanding requirements specification.
The manufacturing takes place both through the wet filament winding process and by means of towpreg winding as well. Bodo Möller Chemie offers high-end solutions for both processes, and especially the new generation of in-house towpreg systems allows a productivity increase and an optimized component quality.
In electrical applications, adhesives and encapsulants are used to ensure the highest possible operational safety concerning high- and low-voltage systems, sensors, charging infrastructure, lighting and sealing. In aviation, composite materials as well as adhesives and sealants are critical – both for the external structure and the interior of aircraft.
“We are a link between our industrial partners – the manufacturers – and the companies looking for specific solutions for current and future products. Our team is not only in charge of consulting, but also of laboratory-supported tests in order to help customers find the optimal product solution,” says Frank Haug, Chairman of the Board of the Bodo Möller Chemie Group.
The full-service supplier of the composite and tooling materials, resin and adhesives area is a valuable help for customers so they can have durable and sellable products faster.
Extensively certified laboratories
The Bodo Möller Chemie Group has its own Adhesive Competence Center (ACC) with testing and application laboratories for adhesive technology. Here, structural adhesives are tested according to the current ISO, EN and DVS standards as well as validated with the customer upon request. The company is certified according to the international standard DIN EN 9120 for the aviation industry, according to DIN 6701-2 for the bonding of rail vehicles and parts according to the highest safety classes A1/S1, and according to DIN 2304-1 for the quality requirements for bonding processes.
With the adhesive laboratory of General Adhesivos acquired last year in Spain by the Bodo Möller Chemie Group through the takeover of the adhesive specialist and distributor, the company offers chemical and mechanical plastic testing from a single source while also continuing as training partner of the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology and Advanced Materials (IFAM).
“We are continually striving to keep expanding our expertise and own research activity on behalf of customers and our international presence. We are thus a strong partner for users and manufacturers!” summarizes Frank Haug.
