Stable financial results for Altheora despite the economic climate
Composite materials converter Altheora is staying on course despite the difficult economic climate, particularly in the construction sector.
Housing starts down 14 %. That’s the economic slowdown recorded by the construction sector in the first half of 2024 compared to the previous year, according to figures from the French Ministry for Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion.
Despite these figures, composite materials converter Altheora, for whom construction represents 48% of revenues, managed to stabilise its financial results thanks to a diversification driven 5 years ago. Facing new challenges in the industry, particularly in the construction and mobility sectors, Altheora also opted for a strategy of external growth and accelerated industrial decarbonisation.
“By focusing our investments on operational excellence, innovation and expanding our markets, our strategic plan has led to the emergence of a new profitable business model, less sensitive to the macro-economic context (…) Despite a still unfavourable economic climate in the first half of the year, particularly in the construction sector, Altheora has maintained a level of Ebitda equivalent to that of the first half of 2023,” explains Bénédicte Durand Deloche, CEO of Altheora.
The company registered consolidated sales of €21.2 million (US$23 million), down 7% on the first half of 2023. It maintained its operating profitability, with Ebitda stable at €1.4 million (US$1.5 million), or 6.6% of sales, compared with €1.5 million (US$1.7 million) in 2023.
Altheora owns 1 production site in Romania and 5 in France, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It has recently been selected by the region for financial and technical support in recognition of its contribution to the strengthening of the region’s industrial sovereignty.
In 2020, Altheora (formerly Mecelec Composites) received the prize for best innovation in the Design and Furniture category at the JEC Innovation Awards.
