Energy : An essential role for composites in climate action.
In this JEC Composites Magazine issue, we will focus on new energy sources and related technologies where composites have their role to play, and where composites manufacturers are innovating.
Reducing industry GHG emissions entails coordinated action throughout value chains to promote all mitigation options, including energy and materials efficiency, circular material flows… In transport, sustainable biofuels, low-emissions hydrogen, and electricity can support mitigation of CO2 emissions from shipping, aviation, and heavy-duty land transport*. Success will be dependent on many factors, including political commitment, sufficient investment, and public engagement.
Composite materials are contributing to creating a more sustainable future by enabling the manufacture of innovative designs which offer high performance, lower weight and increased durability. Increasing energy diversification, reducing industry GHG emissions and developing more sustainable transport, such as electric cars, hydrogen-powered vehicles and wind propulsion systems for shipping, represent incredible opportunities for composites to help meet new market requirements thanks to their intrinsic benefits and the capacity of our industry to innovate.
In this issue, we will focus on new energy sources and related technologies where composites have their role to play, and where composites manufacturers are innovating.
