Nexx Technologies announces vertically integrated cyanate ester prepreg system

Benefitting from lower costs, this new prepreg resin system is unique within the composites industry for being vertically integrated, with unheard-of shop temperature out-time of 90-100 days (<75oF). The extended out-time has made it possible for businesses to finally construct and assemble large-scale structures before the prepreg reaches the end of its processing shelf life. The NTC-425 architecture allows parts production using out of autoclave processing (OOA), without the need for complicated debulks or curing processes.

Flexible processing allows both autoclave and vacuum bag methods to continuously produce outstanding results. Our unique prepreg architecture creates Z-directional engineered air release channels that offer superior VBO/OOA capabilities. Additionally, NTC-425 possesses the unique feature of initially curing at a lower temperature of 275oF (121oC); this provides dimensional stability for the parts to then be post-cured off tool (freestanding). The fabricator is then able to use lower temperature capable tooling. After post cure the material reaches a final Tg of 425oF (200°C).
