Cathay Biotech launches bio-based thermoplastic composites project for photovoltaics
Shanghai Cathay Biotechnology and Fuyang Communications Energy Investment announced the establishment of a strategic cooperation. Both parties will focus on the industrial application of bio-based polyamide composite materials, propelling photovoltaic, construction and transportation materials to a new level of sustainable development. Liu Xiucai, chairman and CEO of Cathay Biotech, Zuo Jun, vice president of Cathay Biotech, and Wang Fei, chairman of Fuyang Investment, attended the signing ceremony.
This signing marks the establishment of a long-term strategic partnership between Cathay Biotech and Fuyang Investment in the application of bio-based composite materials industry. In Fuyang, Anhui province, the two parties will jointly build “the world’s first bio-based thermoplastic composite photovoltaic frame application demonstration project“, according to Cathay Biotech. The aim is to replace current photovoltaic aluminum frames with the new material, and gradually promote it in other distributed photovoltaic projects and photovoltaic power station projects. At the same time, the two parties will jointly explore the implementation of cooperative bio-based composite materials in new energy, transportation, modern architecture and other fields.
Liu Xiucai, chairman and president of Cathay Biotech, said that bio-based materials have become the backbone of the green development of global industries. The closed loop from industrialisation to commercialisation of bio-manufacturing requires multi-dimensional coordination and joint progress by enterprises, governments, and leading investment institutions. Cathay Biotech will make every effort to create application demonstrations of bio-based thermoplastic composite materials in photovoltaic frames and other products.
