GAC Group unveils GOVE, a car that flies and drives
At the 2023 GAC Science and Technology Day press conference held in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, the flying car GOVE developed by the major Chinese car manufacturer GAC Group made its debut. This is the first time that a real flying car has achieved dual operation modes in the air and on the ground, marking a major breakthrough in the field of flying cars in China.
GAC Flying Vehicle GOVE adopts a separate body configuration, the flight cabin and chassis can be freely separated or combined, and make optimal use of the two main scenarios of flight or ground driving, airplane or automobile in dynamic integration.
GOVE is a two-seater, vertical take-off and landing, electric-driven flying car. It has an innovative dual backup multi-rotor design and adopts a separate body configuration, which can quickly switch between air and ground modes to achieve seamless docking. The maximum take-off weight of GOVE is 500 kg; the maximum cruising speed is 80 km/h; the maximum flight range is 200 km; the maximum flight altitude is 3000 meters; the maximum passenger capacity is two people. GOVE is also equipped with an advanced intelligent driving assistance system, which can realize automatic take-off and landing, automatic obstacle avoidance, automatic navigation and other functions, providing users with a safe, convenient and comfortable travel experience.
The flight cabin is one of the core components of the aircraft. It carries the passengers and equipment of the aircraft, and also withstands various forces and temperature changes during the flight. Therefore, the material selection and manufacturing process of the flight cabin have a crucial impact on the performance and safety of the aircraft. Carbon fibre composite material is a high-performance composite material composed of carbon fibre and resin matrix materials. It has the advantages of high strength, low density, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, etc., and can effectively resist aerodynamic loads and temperature changes during flight. It ensures the structural integrity and safety of the flight cabin, and is an ideal material in the aerospace field.
The flight cabin of GOVE is produced and manufactured by Zhejiang Tuanyuan Composite Material Co., Ltd. (Tuanyuan), a Chinese manufacturer of carbon fibre composite materials. The flight cabin developed by Tuanyuan is made of 90% carbon fibre composite material, and its weight is only about 1/4 of that of traditional metal materials.
