Toray opens subsidiary dedicated to composites in China
Toray Pumei Composite Materials (Foshan) Co., Ltd. officially opened in Jiujiang, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, south China, marking a gradual advancement of Toray New Materials Industrial Park in South China.
Japan’s Toray Group currently has invested in 4 companies in Jiujiang, namely Toray High-Tech Polymer (Foshan) Co., Ltd., Toray Membrane Technology (Foshan) Co., Ltd., Toray Pumei Composite Materials (Foshan) Co., Ltd. , and Toray Resin Technology (Foshan) Co., Ltd., all located in Foshan City. Among them, the Pumei composite material project is the third project invested by Toray Group in Jiujiang, with a total investment of 25.5 million yuan (US$ 3.52 million) in the first phase. It mainly produces thermoplastic continuously reinforced fibre composite materials and high-performance component products, which are used in high-end sports shoes, high-end outer shells of laptops, sports protective gear, paddles and other products.
The person in charge said that the project completed the infrastructure construction in August this year and successfully passed the acceptance inspection at the end of September. At present, many production lines of the project have been tested. After full production, the annual output value is expected to exceed 85 million yuan (US$ 11.72 million).
Toray Group chose Jiujiang as the location of Toray South China New Materials Industrial Park, which fully reflects Jiujiang’s potential and advantages in the new materials industry. The commissioning of the Pumei composite materials project will further help Toray Group consolidate its leading position in the global new materials field and effectively enhance the comprehensive competitiveness of Jiujiang’s new materials industry.
