Advanced, affordable high temperature materials for thermal protection systems are needed for the next generation of hypersonic platforms and re-entry vehicles. Textron Systems is a long-established provider of high-performance composite thermal protection systems used on applications ranging from the Apollo Missions program to Minuteman III to NASA deep space probes.

Boston Materials has developed ZRT™, a unique Z-axis oriented carbon fiber film for the reinforcement of composite materials. This product leverages Boston Materials’ patented Z-axis Fiber™ technology.

“ZRT may help us achieve lower-cost, more easily manufactured high-temperature thermal protection systems” says Dave Scaringella, Vice President, Strategic Systems at Textron Systems. “Boston Materials’ efforts may be an enabler for the next generation of re-entry and hypersonic vehicles.”

“Textron Systems is an iconic and respected Aerospace and Defense enterprise. They envisioned how our Z-axis Fiber technology can breakthrough their performance and cost trade-offs in one of the most extreme Aerospace applications. This collaboration further establishes Boston Materials as a leading supplier of high-performance and reliable materials solutions for the most innovative enterprises” says Anvesh Gurijala, CEO of Boston Materials.
