A NEW GENERATION OF WINNERS AT JEC FORUM DACH: HIGHLIGHTING ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INNOVATION IN THE COMPOSITES SECTOR

Since this morning, JEC Forum DACH has turned Frankfurt into the main meeting point for the composites industry in the DACH region. Professionals joined for this first day of the forum, stimulated by a rich program of conferences and business meetings, and today the spotlight was definitely on the participants of the two competitions: the AVK Innovation Awards and the JEC Composites Startup Booster.

CELEBRATING INNOVATION IN THE COMPOSITES INDUSTRY

One aim of the AVK Innovation Awards is to support new products, components and applications made from fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) and to promote new processes and methods for the manufacture of FRP products. Universities, colleges, and institutes are honoured for their outstanding achievements in science and research. This year’s focus, in all categories is on sustainability, a key topic for the composites industry which constantly challenging itself to develop more environmentally friendly products and processes.

Last night, 9 companies and projects were welcomed on stage and rewarded for breaking new grounds in the field of composites:

Category “Innovative Products/Applications”

1st Place: “Traffic signs from Nabasco (N-BMC)”

FOSTERNG ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Technologies, business models, applications… Industrial startups continually develop cutting-edge innovations raising the interest of manufacturers who wish to take a part in the markets of tomorrow, helping the startups to grow in the meantime.
Five finalists had been selected to pitch in front of our jury of experts of the composites industry, granting them and their project a considerable visibility among professionals of the sector across Europe. In the afternoon, attendees could follow the pitch session onsite, in Frankfurt, and online, via a digital platform. After one-hour deliberation of the jury in a private space, the name of the winner was revealed and officially announced at the Awards Ceremony:

Fibercoat (Germany)
FibreCoat has developed a process for direct coating of inorganic fiber materials. It enables low-cost bi-component materials to be used in lightweight construction, in the field of electromagnetic shielding and industrial filtration.

The startup will benefit from an acceleration programme and will have the opportunity to have its booth at the JEC World 2022, next year’s main event for the world of composites.
